In its time, Fort Astoria was the Pacific Fur Company's main headquarters on the west coast, as well as the first major settlement to grow out of the wilderness region. Today the location of the original fort now boasts a serene park with it's highlight a massive mural that recreates what a pioneer would have seen from the top of Fort Astoria. The fort is located in the center of town, just a short stroll from the scenic river and the fascinating Columbia River Maritime Museum.
