Modeled after Trajan's Column, built in the heart of Rome in the early second century, the Astoria Column towers 125 feet above the hill upon which it sits, looking out over the verdant green forest and rushing Columbia River. The exterior of the 1926 column features a spiraling series of images, telling the story of the area's exploration and settlement. Visitors to the column, located southeast of the town, can climb up a spiral metal staircase set within the tower, terminating in an observation deck.
Open dawn - dusk.
Vehicle $1.
